What Do We Mean by Ethical?

You’ll notice when you’re signing up for Puppy Classes through Pudgy’s Place we use the word ETHICAL or that the classes are done ethically. What do we mean by that and why do we feel like we have to mention it. Puppy Yoga and other puppy classes have been popping up all over Toronto. Some of the puppies are coming from rescues (like us), shelters or in some cases the puppies are being rented from breeders. The breeder is paid a flat fee to bring the puppy’s to the class taking place like Yoga. It’s important to ensure you are using a studio that is vetting the breeders they are working with by personally visiting the breeders home to see the living conditions.

Some studios limit food and water intake a few hours prior to the class to ensure the pups don’t mess during the class. Pudgy’s are kept to a strict feeding schedule and classes are run AROUND their schedule not vice versa. They have access to water at all times, their toys and if they decide they would prefer to nap that’s fine - they’re health and happiness comes first. We understand that some people coming to the classes might be upset that a puppy peed or pooped during class. However to re frame it, it means that the puppies are being treated well and their health is our priority. We ride for our Pudgy’s and they ALWAYS come first
